ABOUT:

  •    Eco clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation.
  •    It is a platform where we get knowledge about environment. It also enables the students to be sensitive towards environmental concern to tackle environmental problems.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    To educate the student teachers about their environment.
  •    To create a clean and green consciousness among student teachers through various innovative methods.
  •    To use different media such as short films, audio, visual and print, advertisements, hoarding, posters&seminars.
  •    To mobilize student teachers towards scientific enquiry into environmental problem.
  •    To involve them in efforts to preserve environment.
  •    To motivate student teachers how to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation.

ACTIVITIES :

  •    Action based activities like tree plantation (herbal garden), cleanliness drives both within and outside the College campus.
  •    Organise rallies, marches, human chains and street theatre at public places with a view to spread environmental awareness EARTH DAY (April 22), WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (June 5).
  •    Organise seminars, debates, lectures, field trips and popular talks on environmental issues in the college.
  •    Sensitize the student teachers to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide breeding ground for mosquitoes.
  •    Promote nationby conservation of water by minimizing the use of water.
  •    Installation of a rain harvesting plant: With the installation of the plant rain water can be collected and purified and used for various purposes in the college.

ABOUT:

  •    A Sport Club is defined as a registered student organization that exists to promote and develop interest in a particular sport or physical activity.The Sports club is committed to provide a healthy sporting habit among the students.

ABOUT:

  •    Consumer awareness, which refers to a buyer's knowledge of a particular product or company, allows the buyer to get the most from what he buys. Consumers can make well-informed choices about what to buy and how much to spend when they have product information. Consumers benefit from knowing their rights and reviewing alerts and warnings. The purpose of the club is to make our student teachers an educated and well informed consumers of the future.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    Creates awareness about consumer laws and equip the students with life skills to lead better life.

ABOUT:

  •    The Red Ribbon is a symbol for both drug prevention and for the fight against AIDS.
  •    The Red Ribbon Club foundation is an organization founded in 1993 whose main purpose is the education about prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, Acquired Deficiency Syndrome Related Complex, ARC and AIDS.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    To increase awareness among the student teachers on sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS .
  •    To impart skills on communication, self-protection, negotiation, and effective group interaction.
  •   To prepare student teachers as peer educators/agents of change by developing their skills on leadership and team building.
  •    To encourage blood donations.
  •    To serve as forums for students to participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
  •    To organize seminar, debates, guest lectures on AIDS awareness and its issues.

ACTIVITIES :

  •   Conducting AIDS/HIV Awareness programmes, Cultural Events for the benefit of our student teachers and also for the general public by inviting Doctors and AIDS affected people.

ABOUT:

  •    Film Club plays an important role in creating more awareness through Education film Learning from various mediums of expressions has been an integral part of education. With this understanding, Film Club is formed at the institute to screen movies every month.Film Club is the foremost organization for exploring film culture at college.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    Screening movies/documentary that focus on managerial skills like leadership, team spirit, group dynamics, creativity, self-motivation.
  •   Screening interesting & unique films to acquaint students with various cultural backgrounds.
  •   Encourage discussion and analysis from various perspectives bringing students together to share experiences.

ACTIVITIES :

  •   Education related Film/ Documentary will screen every month. Before the screening of the movie, there will be a briefing about the movie followed by analysis and discussion after the screening.

ABOUT:

  •    Human Rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever the nationality, and place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. They are the fundamental things that human beings need in order to flourish and participate fully in the society. Therefore, it is important to have knowledge on human rights as an individual and as part of the globalized community. As its heart, educating students on the rights and responsibilities is a vital part of building a peaceful community.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    Understand what human rights are
  •   Understand the responsibilities that goes along with rights
  •   Recognize how human rights have been originated
  •   Create a culture among the students that respects human rights
  •   Gain knowledge and understand the importance of Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other treaties

  •   Culture includes what people actually do and what they believe.Culture influences greatly how we see the world, how we try to understand and how we communicate with each other.   •   Today students don’t want to be abibliophile; they look for another option which could help them in the future. The need of today’s age is to develop versatilitystudents. Academic improvement is not enough for today students. Extra- curricular activities are including many cultural activities which should foster the participation of students in cultural activity.

  •   Counselling is a helping processwhich aims to facilitate the process of growth and positive well-being. Counselling emphasizes awareness and prevention along with early identification and intervention of mental health issues. In order to resolve day to day personal and academic problems of the students, particular teacher educators worked as a counselor, and they will counsel the respective students in many sessions, to solve the problems come across during their course of study. This is a continuous process till the end of academic career of the students.

OBJECTIVES :

  •   To enable the parents to know about the performance and regularity of their wards.

ABOUT:

  •    A Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the institution, working in partnership with College management, Staff and parents for the benefit of the institution and its students.

ABOUT:

  •    The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary humanitarian organization which involves 1100 branches throughout the country. It provides relief in times of disasters, emergencies and also promotes health and care of the vulnerable people and communities. Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit is one of the acting wings of Indian Red Cross Society to contribute the needs of defenseless people in the local community.
  •    Our Thiagarajar College of Preceptors also has the vision of generating preceptors with Cognition, Values and Skills towards Nation Building. Our college trains the student-teachers with the understanding of the principles of YRC Health, Service and Friendship which is essential to the harmonious development of the future generation to achieve our vision. We subscribe and annually renew the membership of YRC unit in Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch and train our student- teachers.
  •    Our college YRC unit successfully conducted Awareness Programme, Disaster Management and First Aid Training Programme,our student-teachers and staff members voluntarily donated their blood and also actively participated in social awareness activities like rally, camp, etc.

OBJECTIVES :

  •    To motivate the YRC volunteers to donate the blood and organize blood donation camps.
  •    To organize the Social and Health Awareness Programme
  •    To understand the social importance of YRC during the natural disaster

  •    The importance of English Association is to hone communicative, creative and innovative skills of the student-teachers’.
  •    It involves activities like Intra and Inter college competitions, guest lectures, symposium etc. to enhance student-teachers’ thriving nature in both academics andlife.

VISION AND MISSION :

  •    The vision of the association is to instill, uphold and enhance the English literary skills within the student-teachers’ population of TCP and give the necessary skills and confidence to use English as an effective tool in conveying ones ideas.
  •   English Association also has a few missions up its sleeve:

  •   To provide opportunities to develop students’ explorative, creative and inventive faculties.
  •   To develop heuristic and problem solving attitude among students.
  •   To apply Mathematical knowledge and skills in daily life situations.
  •   To imbibe social qualities like co-operation, tolerance, adjustment and open-mindedness, as they work in groups.
